Sewing and the digital age

When I was a kid my mom and I would go to the fabric store, sit at the counter and sift through the eight inch thick pattern books looking for the perfect dress, skirt or whatever I thought I needed.

So far, in my month and a half of sewing exuberance, the only pattern I purchased in a store is the one from Oliver + S in my last post. Every other pattern I’ve found for free or paid $10 to download. It does take a little effort to assemble downloaded patterns. Most are formatted to print on 8 1/2 x 11 paper and then you tape the pages together to create the larger pattern pieces.

I purchased the pattern for these big butt baby pants from Made by Rae. They’re fantastic! I’ve made two pair and have more fabric waiting.

I found the pattern for this adorable little ruffle top on the Oliver + S blog.

  1. Hi Lisa, love your new creations… I lost my link to your site when I had to reformat my laptop, so have to do some catching up. You are doing a great job of sewing. I’m so excited to get caught up… 🙂
